TAIPEI, Taiwan, October 10 , 2008 — Egis Technology Inc., a leading provider of data encryption and biometric fingerprint solutions, today announced that the world’s third largest PC vendor, Acer, has adopted EgisTec’s SS801U fingerprint sensor and Bio-Protection solution for its TravelMate 6293 professional notebook PC.
Designed to suit the demands of commercial users who require robust performance on the move, Acer TravelMate 6293 features the latest Intel Centrino 2 platform and 64 architecture. This 12.1-inch notebook offers fingerprint identity controls realized by EgisTech’s Bio-Protection digital print reading solution, and supports Pre-Boot Authentication (PBA) that is the most secure control program on the market. The TravelMate 6283 also features FingerLaunch, by EgisTech, that enables users to safely launch programs and authenticate documents with a simple swipe of the finger.
The SS801U fingerprint sensor adopted by TravelMate 6293 is EgisTec’s latest USB, ultra low cost, slide fingerprint sensor designed for notebook and PC peripheral applications. The sensor provides both excellent fingerprint authentication and full graphical navigation functions.
The SS801U sensor can differentiate between very small capacitance variations to create a 3D fingerprint image with perfect gray levels. In addition, it is able to deliver a complete fingerprint without any image reconstruction, allowing the system to benefit from lower consumption of memory, especially when integrating with Pre-Boot Authentication (PBA), and a faster matching process as a result of the efficient imaging.
The combination of the EgisTec fingerprint software solution and the EgisTec fingerprint sensors provides customers with not only un-duplicable integrated fingerprint technology but also a cost-effective security solution to complement customers’ products.
